Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoin, wants to add Confidential Transactions to Litecoin and he is targeting 2019 to do so. He pointed to the controversial fungibility feature as “the only property of sound money that is missing from Bitcoin and Litecoin.” He says with the scalability issue in the rear-view mirror, fungibility and privacy are the “next battleground. Lee went on to announce that he is “now focused on making Litecoin more fungible by adding Confidential Transactions.”

Holland Considers Ban on Anonymous Bitcoin Transactions

A recent report published by Dutch media outlet, Nederlandsche Omroep Stichting (NOS) revealed that Dutch finance minister Pete Hoekstra sought official advice on whether a licensing system should be introduced for cryptocurrency services. According to NOS, the urgency for investor protection and regulation have lessened as the speculation that drove cryptocurrency prices and ICOs in 2017 has evaporated. This has led the government to shift its focus to preventing cryptocurrencies from being used for money laundering and financing terrorism. The new proposal would suggest that a licensing system that requires cryptocurrency exchanges and wallet providers to oversee transactions and report any activity that appears unusual. The licensing system would also require exchanges to store customer information and provide users’ private details in the event of an investigation.

Eurasian Economic Commission Readies Report on Crypto and Considers Regulation

The Eurasian Economic Commission has finished a report on cryptocurrencies that is designed to prompt regulation within crypto-related sectors. Tatyana Valovaya, the EEC minister for integration and macroeconomics said that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) aspires to develop a consolidated financial market for cryptocurrency by 2025 and she emphasized the importance of studying crypto-markets as their growth becomes more robust. The report is said to focus on the definition of cryptocurrencies and it also calls for the development of a crypto legal framework. Valovaya also mentioned that ‘sooner or later’ cryptocurrencies could have a greater impact on macroeconomic stability.

ETH Tool | WeTrust Launches Blockform Tool for Deploying and Managing Ethereum Nodes

WeTrust, a project focused on creating a decentralized platform for financial products, recently launched a new tool named Blockform which is designed to simplify the process of deploying and managing Ethereum nodes on your own server. Blockform allows developers to easily create and deploy mainnets or testnets on existing cloud service providers such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services. This removes the need to install, configure and manage the infrastructure of ETH nodes, allowing them to focus on their projects.
